The Challenge

Florida Paints had already invested in a strong visual brand and a professionally designed website. We had previously enhanced their product catalog to streamline navigation and improve the customer experience, making it easier for users to browse and explore offerings online. Their team had also done the groundwork to optimize their Google Business Profiles across 28 store locations and was actively gathering reviews to strengthen local trust signals.

Despite these efforts, each store’s Google listing linked to the homepage rather than a location-specific page, which limited their local ranking potential. Additionally, the site’s store locator was not optimized for SEO, meaning the business had little to no visibility in organic search results for individual locations outside of Google Maps.

As regional competitors grew more aggressive and Florida Paints expanded its B2B and D2C offerings, it became increasingly important to rank for a wider range of service- and location-based keywords. To stay competitive, they needed a scalable SEO and generative engine optimization (GEO) strategy that could drive traffic through both traditional and AI-powered search platforms.

Marketing Strategy & Positioning

Florida Paints’ web presence didn’t reflect their market strength in Florida when compared to national competitors. To close that gap, we launched a multi-phased initiative aimed at elevating their digital visibility to match their established physical footprint. The first phase focused on strengthening the site’s foundational architecture, followed by ongoing monthly SEO and GEO efforts targeting the three most competitive locations.

As search behavior continued to evolve with platforms like Google SGE and Bing Copilot, as well as popular large language models (LLMs) like Gemini, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Grok, and Claude, it became clear that map rankings alone weren’t enough to stay competitive. We needed to expand their strategy to strengthen visibility across all modern search channels, repositioning Florida Paints as the clear market leader, both in-store and online.

Strategy Execution & Tactics

Technical Foundation

We restructured the site architecture around a scalable multi-location SEO model, allowing Florida Paints to easily add new store pages with full optimization baked in. This architecture could be expanded upon to include sub-pages for each location as well, further boosting the potential for rankings in both primary and long-tail keywords.

To improve visibility in AI-powered search engines, we implemented structured data and schema across location, product, and service pages to enhance crawlability and context.

On-Site Optimization

We rebuilt the store locator to support dynamic map search and scalable internal linking, laying the groundwork for strong location-based SEO. Using a conversion-focused, SEO-friendly template, we launched 28 landing pages–one for each store location–featuring keyword-optimized metadata, unique content, and structured headings tailored to local search queries.

Each page was linked to its corresponding Google Maps listing to reinforce topical authority and improve local visibility. Internal linking strategies were carefully applied to guide users through the site and strengthen overall page relevance.

To support AI-driven platforms like Google SGE and Bing Copilot, we implemented structured layouts and clear content hierarchies that make it easier for generative engines to extract relevant details for summaries and voice results. We also enhanced site performance through mobile-first design, improved page speed, and lightweight code architecture to meet the standards of both traditional and AI-powered search engines.

Off-Site Optimization

Each of the 28 Google Business Page profiles was updated with accurate business details, service offerings, and high-quality photos to enhance trust and improve local relevance.

We focused our off-site efforts on optimizing Florida Paints’ Google Business Profiles for the top 3 most competitive (and valuable) locations to increase visibility in local and AI-driven search results.

Content Strategy

Our content strategy focused on writing unique, keyword-optimized service pages for each Florida Paints location. Each page was tailored to highlight market-specific offerings, local language, and search intent, improving organic rankings and driving traffic from nearby customers.
